Kukljica is a small tourist and fishing village, located on the south-east of Ugljan Island, to which the neighboring island of Pasman is attached. Two islands on the Strait of Zdrelac connect the bridge of the same name.
On the north side, Kukljica is bordered by the Zadar canal which is separated by a 5 km airline from the remote Sukošan (9.5 km from the city of Zadar), and in the south by the sea of the Central Channel, which is divided by 5 km away from the south-eastern coasts of the island of Iž. Kukljica, as well as the rest of Ugljan, has an exceptionally indented coast and counts several bays, bearing the following names: Otric, Kostanj, Gnjorišći, Kukljica, Ždrelašćica, Kunčabok, Vela and Mali Sabuša, Jelenica, Baćina draga, Maževica and Mala Lamjana. Zaglav (cape between the bay of Gnjorišća and Kukljica bay) is the highest place on which is located the tourist resort of Zelena punta, and also other villages: rcape Glavica, cape Suhi, Karantun and Loparić. Some of the mountain tops: Straža (152 m), Veli vrh (123 m), Strženjak (109 m) and others whose height does not exceed 100 m, to the lowest peak Žan (13 m), among the islets on Karantunić islet is high 18 m. The lush landscape is characterized by lush vegetation - dense pine forests, cypresses, macaw, figs, grapefruit and definitely unavoidable olives.
The first well-known written mention of the name of Kukljica is in the list of 1106 published by Tadija Smičiklas in "Codex diplomaticus", mentioning the donation of the olive grove to the monastery of Sv. Krševana in Zadar. The most significant buildings, unfortunately damaged, are the castle (summer residence) of the Nassi family from 1623, and the remains of an unknown building in Ortulano's court.
The construction of stone houses, typical autochthonous Dalmatian construction, stands out most in Kukljica. The houses were built by hanging one on the other, forming a small rectangular squares. That square and a set of houses is called the court. The best preserved courtyards are Basement Court, Benin Palace, Jojin Palace, Lycium Palace, Lonely Palace and Martin's Palace.
St. Jerolima church, in today's Romanesque form, dating back to the 13th century, is located on the southeastern part of the Kostanj bay. Parish baroque church of St. Paul was built on the foundations of the older church. Valuable Glagolitic inscriptions are evidence of the beginning of construction in 1666 (the inscription on the portal), and of the dedication of 1674 (inscription in the church). The 18th-century bell tower is 25 meters high. There are five large altars in the church. The Votive Baroque Church of St. The Lady of the Snow from the 17th century in Zdrelašćica bay is similar to the church of Sv. Paul, built at the same time. It was built on the foundations of an older sanctuary. The church is culturally well-known in the Register of Immovable Cultural Monuments of the Regional Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments in Split. The Renaissance, wooden, altarpiece was transferred to the Sacred Art Museum in Zadar, and a copy was placed on the altar. Sv. The Lady of Snow is celebrated on every August 5th continuously from 1514 with a magnificent procession of the sea, sculpture of Mother of God on board and regatta of several hundred different ships.
Sabuša beach is located on the west coast of the island. The center of Kukljica is 20 minutes' walk away. The sea is sandy and shallow and suitable for families with small children. The beach is concrete and pleasant for sunbathing, and has shaded parts.
Jelenica beach Jelenica beach is a naturist beach, located near Sabuša bay. It is surrounded by numerous olive trees. The beach can be reached on foot in 25 minutes from the center of Kukljica. The beach is sandy - gravel, with no content. Besides Jelenica. there is also a naturist beach Mala Sabuša.
Kostanj beach is located north of Kukljica. Sandy beach with thick pine forests and in a completely natural environment. There is no content on the beach. The bay is suitable for anchoring small boats.
The crystal clear sea and the rocky beach with sandy coves are the recognizability of the beaches of Green Punta in Kukljica on the island of Ugljan.
The Lungomare Trails are intended for the widest range of hikers, following the shore of the stream, passing through numerous bays through the centuries-old pine woods. The other side of the island is connected to Kukljica by light footpaths that intertwine the beautiful interior of the island, and are also intended for a wider range of walks. Special attention is paid to the paths that pass through the olive groves and pine forests. Harder footpaths are intended exclusively for active hikers or mountaineers, which include steep parts, and may be partly on the tough terrain. The attraction of the trail is untouched nature and numerous gazebos, which provide a magnificent view of the Zadar archipelago.
Using harder footpaths, it requires the wearing of solid sneakers, and the mandatory carrying of water or juices, especially during the summer. Never dismantle the centuries-old stone drywall (MOCIRE), if your stone is thrown away, put it back in place. If you encounter an animal, behave naturally, calm down and watch. Do not go to unproven and unmarked lanes, many lanes and paths on the islands are neglected and are not suitable for use.

By road and ferry across the island of Ugljan, the town of Kukljica is connected with Zadar, with the possibility of using its own transportation or public transport organized by buses. A very important role is played by a bridge crossing Uvala Ždrelašćica and connecting the islands Ugljan and Pašman. Through Pašman there is organized public transport by buses and ferry that connects the island of Pašman from Tkon, the shortest relation with Biograd.
